Obituary
Duaine Lavern "Bus" Turner passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at HospiceCare.
He was born March 15, 1926, in Madison, to Fred and Neveda (Halverson) Turner. He served in the Navy Special Services Armed Guard in the European, Mediterranean, and Pacific Theaters during World War II. An injury cut short his service with the Madison Fire Department. He was the general contractor of Bus Building, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Martin Halverson. He married Donna Faye Riker in 1946. Duaine loved to travel, enjoyed gardening, and long walks with Donna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Chester, Stan, Lereal, Kenneth and Jim; and five sisters, Fern Plath, Bonnie Ward, Leota Bachman, Mary Schutte and Joyce Storkson. He is survived by four children, Sharon (Roger) Sierra of Inverness, Calif., Daniel of San Francisco, Calif., Fred of Hilo, Hawaii, and Lillian (Steve) Hasz of Pardeeville; seven granddaughters, four grandsons and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, where Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be at 1 p.m.
