Obituary

MADISON- Mary Catherine Lynch McCann, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on Nov. 25, 1922, in Madison, the daughter of Humphrey and Gretta (Devine) Lynch. Mary graduated from Edgewood High School. Shortly after graduation, she was married and raised five children. Mary worked for the Wisconsin State Historical Society and retired after 33 years. She was a lifelong resident on the East Side of Madison and member of St. Bernard Parish. Mary is survived by her children, Coleen (Randy) Erstad, Johni (Jack) Stout, Pat (Mike) Hilgers, and Jerry (Margaret) McCann; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; brother, Humphrey Jerry Lynch; niece and Goddaughter, Geralyn (Roger) Slack; and nephew, Joe (Ann) Lynch. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James P. McCann; brother, Richard Lynch; and granddaughter, Beverly Erstad. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or St. Vincent de Paul. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at ST.
