Obituary

Johnson, Benita M. “Bonnie” MADISON-Bonnie M. Johnson passed out of our lives, in her home, on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011. She was born in Cuba City on Sept. 29, 1945. Her family moved to Fennimore when she was about five years old and she lived there during her early years. Bonnie graduated from Fennimore High School. In 1964 she started working at Wisconsin Telephone as a directory assistance operator and worked there for 30 years, retiring from Ameritech in 1994. Bonnie met and married James Johnson in 1978 when they both were operators at Wisconsin Telephone. They lived on the north side of Madison for 33 years. Bonnie is survived by her husband, James; sisters, Elizabeth (Robert) Sabroff of Wisconsin Dells, and Mary (Gregory) Rothe of Mequon; brother, William (Lori) Busch of Fennimore; brother-in-law, Robert (Sandra Burr) Johnson of Cottage Grove; sisters-in-law, Debra (Charles) Lund of Eau Claire, and Patricia Johnson of Cottage Grove; many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She had many friends across the country who will miss her always. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Lorraine Busch; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marvin and Dorothy Johnson; and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her as she was always there in a time of need or when it was time to have fun. Bonnie loved to travel as she and Jim were both retired and went to many reunions around the country for the aircraft carrier, USS Coral Sea, that Jim had served on. The dogs in the neighborhood will miss her also, as Miss Bonnie’s Doggie Day Care has had to close. Her love for animals knew no bounds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, with Father Roger D. Nilles presiding. Lunch will be served at church following Mass. Jim, we send our deepest sympathy to you. We can't imagine how difficult it has to be to lose your wife, friend, companion. She was bigger than life, she was a lot of peoples rock. She is missed and will be missed not only by you, all family members, but by many many people whose hearts she touched. I know we will miss her terribly. Whenever we were with you guys, it always was a great time. The only thing we would change is it would have been more often. We pray for you, Bon's family and her many many friends during this sad time. You take care. We will see you sunday, monday and whenever we can get together in the future to reflect on many the good memories of Bon. Love, Patty/Del
