Clarice C. Thistle

LODI-Clarice C. Thistle, age 89, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Divine Savior Hospital, following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on October 13th,1922, in Lodi, the daughter of Joseph, Sr. and Christine (Quam) Thompson. Clarice was united in marriage to Clarence D. Thistle on February 26, 1943 at the Methodist Parsonage in Arlington. He preceded her in death in 1990. Clarice was a lifelong resident of Lodi and a member of First Lutheran Church in Lodi. Her home was her pride and joy and she was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage. Clarice enjoyed camping with her husband in Door County and treasured the times trout fishing with her dad in the back yard. Clarice is survived by her children, Phyllis Haupt of Arlington; C. Don (Jody) Thistle, Jr., of Lodi; Linda Joiner of Dewey, AZ., and Karla (John) Larrabee of Lodi, many grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. In addition to her husband, Clarence D. Thistle, Clarice was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara E. Hook, a son-in-law, Russell Haupt, Sr and two brothers, Perry LaVerne Thompson, and Joseph Thompson, Jr.. Funeral Services will be held at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 206 Pleasant Street, Lodi at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2011 with Pastor Michael Lee presiding. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery in the town of Lodi. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 (Noon) until the time of the service at the church. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Home Health United Hospice for the care they gave to Clarice. Rest in peace Mother.
