Obituary

MADISON-Kiant’e Marquis Colvin, age 15, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov.6, 2011. He was born on May 9, 1996, in Evanston, Ill., the son of Kristel Washington and Terrance Colvin. Kiant’e, LaFollette High School sophmore, football player, and track athlete, will be remembered for his incredible smile which was so big and bright and yet a tiny bit shy. He had a playful and kind disposition. He made others feel better with his laughter, quick wit, and obvious enjoyment of being with people. He demonstrated a level of responsibility to his family and respect for others that seemed greater than his young age. He had boundless patience with children and was devoted to his baby brother. He enjoyed playing Xbox 360, reading fantasy books, listening to music, and spending time with his brother and sister. Simple things made him happy – family movie night, baking brownies, the thought of visiting with far away family. Kiant’e was an avid Chicago Bears and Bulls fan and loved discussing sports trivia. Kiant’e is survived by his mother, Kristel Washington; father, Terrance Colvin; sisters, Mia, Jazmine, Niecy, Zhane, and Tianna; brothers, Kordell and T.J.; grandparents, Ron Washington, Patricia Semeniuk, Jeanette Price and Dennis Price; Uncles, Ron Washington II and Tony Price; Aunt, Temika Price; cousins, Lil Ron, and Oronde; and several other cousins, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, with Kyle Glenn presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County, 2059 Atwood Ave., #2, Madison WI 53704. 'A limb has fallen from our family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says 'Grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remember all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small, go on with your life, don't just stare at the wall. I'll miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin, until the day comes we're together again.' Memorials may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County, 2059 Atwood Ave., #2, Madison WI 53704. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, with Kyle Glenn presiding.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kiant'e only three or four times over the last two years. During those times I was fortunate to be around him, he was always very respectful, sweet and funny. My son, Ray, cared for him very much and he will be missed. Your family is in my prayers.

I am so sad about the passing of Kiant'e. He was a wonderful, caring big brother to Kordell. I cared for Kordell as an infant at Campus For Kids Learning Center. He loved to come and see Kordell and pick him up and carry him when Kristel came to pick him up at the end of the day. I didn't know him well but he left a very good impression on me and others here. He was a real inspiration and I pray that his example will bless many people. My thoughts and prayers are with his whole family. He will be greatly missed! God bless you all!
