Obituary

MADISON - Laura P. Hofmann, age 42, died unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, as a result from injuries sustained from a pedestrian accident. She was born on Nov. 6, 1969, in Elgin, Ill., the daughter of Ulrich and Alice (Klingensmith) Hofmann. Laura graduated from Heritage High School in Littleton, Colo., in 1988. She then attended Beloit College in 1993 and earned a degree in Anthropology and Biological Science. Laura moved to Norway for a few years, and then returned to the U.S. and lived in Texas and later moved to Los Angeles, Calif. In 2006, she moved to Madison and worked as a Disability Specialist for the State of Wisconsin. Laura enjoyed cooking, writing, painting and drawing. She is survived by her father, Ulrich Hofmann of Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Chris (Pat) Hofmann of Chicago, Ill.; a nephew, William Hofmann; three aunts, Ursula Stammler of Lawrence, Kansas, Ulrike Hofmann of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Ginny Rothrock of Franklin, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Zoe, Espen, Karl and Haakon who will fondly remember their Tante Laura; and best friend, Ingunn Fredriksen Reser. Laura was preceded in death by her mother, Alice. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) or the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Association (ADDA). Laura worked in the Bureau of Human Resources at the Department of Health Services a few years ago. She was a good employee and a kind-hearted soul. We will miss her.

I was privileged to work with Laura here at DHS a few years ago when she worked in Reception! She was a smart, funny and all around wonderful person who will be missed dearly!!!!

Laura was a valued member of our Bureau. We were happy for her when she moved on to another position, with a chance for advancement. Laura will always be remembered for being the bright spot in our Bureaum with a smile for all. I will miss her.
