Obituary
Lodi - Dr. Thomas A. Schneckloth, age 97, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 21, 1914 in Lodi the son of Thomas A. and Blanche (Buchanan) Schneekloth. A graduate of Lodi High School, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa in 1938. It was there he met Lorna Mae McKenney, whom he married on April 8, 1939 in Pisgah, IA. Tom worked 1 ½ years in research at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Veterinary Science Department. From there they moved to Green Bay where their children were born. He was a supervisor with the Badger Breeders Cooperative, one of the first artificial breeding programs in Wisconsin. Tom returned to Lodi in 1949 to join his father’s veterinary practice. In 1960 he began working for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Health, retiring in October of 1979. He was a part time employee of the Lodi Veterinary Hospital after he retired from the State of Wisconsin. He was a 50 year (1989) member of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, a member of the Lodi Masonic Lodge, the Lodi Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Award (1991) and the Lodi United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. Tom was preceded in death by Lorna, his parents and his sister Catherine Boyce. He is survived by a son, Larry (Janet) Schneckloth of Waukesha; daughter, Lois (Mike) Hoffman of Sturtevant; grandchildren, Laurel (Tarique) Alizad, New York City; Sue (Joe) Belcher, Seattle, WA; Michael (T’Ann) Hoffman, Frankville; Jennifer (Zack) Dachel, Lodi; great-grandchildren, Edie Alizad, Tristan and Hailey Hoffman, Erik and Mikayla Dachel. A Masonic service will precede the memorial service celebrating Tom’s life at 3:00 PM, Monday, November 21, 2011 at the LODI UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 130 Locust Street, Lodi, with the Reverend Scott Walters presiding. Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Lodi United Methodist Church, Lodi Good Samaritan Center, Lodi Masonic Lodge or to the Lodi Library.
