Ferne E. (Stone) DeWeese

MADISON- Ferne E. (Stone) DeWeese, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Eagle surrounded by her family. She was born on Mar. 25, 1922, in Hancock, the daughter of Alan and Hilda (Nelson) Gibbs. Ferne worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring after 28 years of service. In her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the VA and U.W. Hospitals. Ferne also enjoyed bowling and was an avid Badgers fan. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Stone; grandchildren, Richard Whalen, Teresa (Jim) Reichow, Jerrel Selsor, Elizabeth Whalen, Suzanne (Gary) Carlson, Brian Selsor, Patricia (Jeff) Jicha and Stacey (Steve) Schultz; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harry (Marge) Gibbs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ferne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Stone; daughter, Judith Selsor; grandson, Andrew Selsor; and a brother and sister. Funeral services will be held at CROSSPOINT CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 5011 Commercial Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
