Obituary
MADISON - Olive Marie Roisum Wile, 90, died in her sleep on Christmas Eve Day. She grew up in the Deforest area during the Depression, moving to Madison for her high school years. After graduation she worked in the Madison area before meeting her future husband, Don, during the war. After the war they moved to western Pennsylvania and later to a Cleveland suburb where they raised their three children. Olive had a wide variety of part-time jobs: physician’s executive secretary, technical manuscript proofreader, and church secretary. While raising the children she volunteered in multiple church- and school-related activities. After her children were raised and settled across the U.S., she and Don returned to her beloved Madison. She was a docent at the Elvehjem Museum, a member of the Madison Watercolor Society, and had hobbies too numerous to list. She shared Don’s suffering as a caregiver for several years until his death four years ago. She loved Madison and never tired of the beautiful lakes and the Capitol, relating stories to her children wherever they drove in the area. She is survived by her children, David (Linnea), Diane (James Mills), Denise (deceased) and Dennis (Laura); grandchildren, Erik, Andrew, and Hillary (Dan McCarvel); and great-grandchildren, Alex and Mikayla. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 MONONA DRIVE, MADISON at noon on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
