Doris Mae (Lythjohan) Grenzow

MADISON- Doris Mae (Lythjohan) Grenzow, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, following complications from leukemia. Doris (Boots) was born at Little Grant on July 16, 1931, eldest daughter of LeRoy and Mable (Van Gasbeck) Ritter. She graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1949. Doris married Donovan Lythjohan in 1950. Then in 1957, she married Robert C. Grenzow until his death in 1997. Doris worked for the State of Wisconsin for 43 years retiring in 1997. She spent 36 years at the Department of Public Instruction. Doris worked at JoAnn Fabrics part time for 16 years. She loved reading, sewing, knitting and gardening. Doris’ main love was dancing. She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Betty) Lythjohan, David Lythjohan and Robert Dana Grenzow; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ben) Vasquez, Kelly Lythjohan, Lindy Lythjohan, Tiffany Lythjohan, David (Crockett) Lythjohan and Ryan Lythjohan; great-grandchildren, Natalya, Jayvion, Romy, Blake and Harmony Mae; sisters, Dorothy Darlene Zenz and Shirley Baush; brothers, Darrell (Laura) Ritter and Don (Anne) Ritter; and her beloved cats. Doris was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; brothers, Dale (2005) and Delbert (2006); brothers-in-law, Norbert Zenz and Fred Bausch. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare and the UW Carbone Cancer Center for their compassion and care and suggests that memorials be made to them in Doris’ name.
