Arlene Karlov

MADISON – Arlene Karlov, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2012, after a long and beautiful life. Arlene was born on July 27, 1921, in Chicago, Ill. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School. She eloped with Raymond Karlov on Feb. 14, 1948, in Chicago, where their daughters were born. The family later moved to Indianapolis where Arlene worked as a secretary for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Arlene’s five grandchildren were her greatest joy and the highlight of her life. The Karlovs retired to Delavan to be near them. Arlene enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading about archeology and finding garage sales. She was crazy about dogs, holidays, Motown music, coffee cake, and her beloved Chicago. She was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ. Arlene was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Raelene; her parents; her husband, Raymond; and many sisters and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her daughters, Victoria Karlov (David Higgins) and Judith Karlov; her grandchildren, Chelsea, Alison, Ross, Lauren and Riley; her younger brother, Robert; and her furry friends, Sophie and Maggie. Arlene remained modern and open minded in her thinking throughout her lifetime. She will be remembered for her fun-loving personality and kind and generous spirit.
