Obituary
MADISON – Wilma Louise (Sturm) Holt, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the Oakwood Village East (Prairie Ridge), Memory Care Center, with her husband George by her side. She was born on December 28, 1926, in Madison, the only daughter of Emma (Homer) and William Sturm. Her father died shortly before her birth. She lived most of her life in the family home, designed by her uncle Philip Homer, on Lakeland Avenue overlooking Lake Monona. Wilma married George Frank Holt at Luther Memorial Church in Madison on July 26, 1952; they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. Wilma was a loving mother to five children and constant support and active participant with George in their pharmacy in Sun Prairie. Known as a skilled seamstress, she delighted in sewing for her family. Her handmade pajamas, that we called “Gramma Jams”, were a special favorite of her grandchildren. Wilma was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher, Parish Shoppe volunteer, member of Abigail and Rejoice circles and the Friendship Club. She also enjoyed playing piano, traveling and solving crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband, George; her daughters, Karen (Henry) Mattson and Linda Holt and her sons, William (Judith) and John Holt; as well as her grandchildren, Eric (Ashley) Mattson, Emily and Catherine Mattson, Adam Holt, Kayla and Jenna Holt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristin. A memorial service will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST (PRAIRIE RIDGE), TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, with the Rev. Curtis Everson and Rev. Byron Bunge presiding. A luncheon will follow the service. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. The family wishes that memorials be made to Bethel Lutheran Church (for media ministry), 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison WI 53703-4106 www.bethel-madison.org or The Oakwood Foundation, Inc., 6201 Mineral Point Rd., Madison WI 53705 www.oakwoodfoundation.org.

Linda, I am sorry to hear of the death of your mother.
I remember when we were leading the Girl Scouts at Lowell, and she was such a greatlady. Also recall her always being baking bread! I admired her skills. This photo made me recall her pretty smile.
Loving thoughts go to you and the family at this time. God bless.
