Obituary

MADISON/BARABOO- Retired Lieutenant Colonel, Edward A. Wallace, age 93, died on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Oak Park Place- Memory Care in Baraboo. Edward was born on July 20, 1918, in Waggoner, Ill., the son of William C. and Alma Grace (Dailey) Wallace. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1937, in Litchfield, Ill. Edward was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. While stationed at Truax Field in Madison, he met Pearl S. Erickson from Morrisonville. They were married at Delray Beach, Fla., where he was then stationed. During World War II, Edward served as Second Lieutenant with the 486th Bomb Group in England. After returning to Madison, he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. Edward worked for 34 years at Oscar Mayer as a design engineer. He and Pearl traveled to Norway, Germany, England, Hawaii, Alaska, and spent many winters in Florida. Edward was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, East Side Businessmen’s Club and the V.F.W. Post #7591. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia G. (Dr. Monte) McFadden of Baraboo; son, William (Joyce) Wallace of Madison; granddaughter, Kara McFadden (David) Klubertanz of Cross Plains; great-grandsons, Jakob and Kaden Klubertanz of Cross Plains; sister-in-law, Helen Struckmeyer of Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl; son, Gerald E. Wallace; his parents; a sister, Doris (Elmer) Gruen; and a brother, Lester (Marie) Wallace. Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee Street, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2012. Burial will be at Norway Grove Cemetery in DeForest, with military rites being conducted. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
