Robert 'Bob' Francis Borman

MADISON/ BLACK EARTH- Robert “Bob” Francis Borman passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, April 15, 2012. Bob was born on Jan. 31, 1940 to the late Cecil and Mary (Shackelton) Borman in Black Earth, at home on the family farm. He enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and football in high school, where he earned the nickname “Tiger” on the football field. He graduated from Black Earth High School in 1958, and joined the U.S. Army. During his service he spent time in Germany and in Alaska. Bob married Marie (Brown) Tollefson on Jan. 4, 1964. They were married for sixteen years and raised four children together. Bob enjoyed time with his family, his brothers and sister and their families. He liked fishing, camping, bowling, dancing, and was always looking for a game of cribbage. Bob worked as a mechanic and a tire salesman. He is survived by his children Karl Tollefson of Madison, Karla (John) Tollefson-Boyer of Okee, Paul (Diane Byington) Borman of Madison and Steve (Julie) Borman of Sun Prairie; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Michael (Janet) Borman of Mazomanie; sister, Kate Orth of Colorado; and sister-in-law, Loretta Borman of Madison. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Bev) Borman, Thomas (Cathy) Borman and Eugene Borman. A memorial is to be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 12:00 pm until 2:30 pm at the CITY CHURCH, 4909 E. Buckeye Rd., Madison. The family would like to invite all Bob's family and friends to please join them in a celebration of his life. He was a good, kind hearted, hard working man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Belmont Nursing Home and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Saint Mary's hospital, and the staff at the Agrace Hospice Center of Fitchburg for all the wonderful care they provided Bob during his time there. Thank you for taking care of our Dad and for all the compassionate care you give every day to everyone.
