Obituary
MADISON- Edward C. Erickson, age 85, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012. He was born in Stoughton on Dec. 22, 1926, the son of Emil and Hazel Erickson. Edward worked for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company, and then entered the army with a tour in Korea. Upon returning from Korea Edward continued his career with Wisconsin Bell and was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers. Met and married Virginia Hope Hookstead on April 24, 1952, and are now reunited for their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Ed and Gin had their children Gina Erickson, Eric Erickson and Karla (Lindauer) Erickson while they lived in Janesville. Then his career took him to Lake Geneva and finally to Madison where they lived for more than forty years. Ed liked to fish, golf, ski and bowl. In his younger years he liked to play league softball and he always loved to watch his children play in their sports. Ed especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Emily Erickson, run cross country and track. Edward is survived by his children Gina Erickson (Kevin), Eric Erickson, Karla Lindauer (Mike); granddaughter, Emily Erickson; step grandchildren, Brittany and Travis Dick; a sister, Florence Short; brother -in-law , Mel Alme; in- laws, Bernard and Beverly Hookstead, and Fritz and Elanor Mutterer; as well as many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Erickson; four sisters, Elda May (Leander) Felio, Florabell “Tootsie” Alme, Karen (Warren) Jones, and Bonnie (Alvin) Tenjum; and brother, Sonny Erickson; brother-in- law, Eddie Short; son-in-law, Mike Lindauer ; and Brittany, Travis, and Emily’s mother, Susan Erickson (Shriver). A celebration of Edward’s life will be held at OUR SAVIOUR’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1201 Droster Road, Madison at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
