Don and God has decided it was time to give Jane his wife some company in Heaven around 11 pm Wednesday night. God opened up the gates of Heaven for Don. Reluctantly Don has left us now to be with his family in Heaven. Don told me when I saw him on Tuesday that if I came to visit to feel sorry for him, I came to the wrong place. If I came to help him celebrate the time left with him, I should stay and do that. I am so glad I stayed. Never once did Don complain to me about his pain over these last years of his cancer. Now he does not have the pain. His cancer did not win. Don’s spirit won. Never was there an example of a man who was so brave and who loved his friends and family more than Don. Don is what winning is all about. Don had 3 favorite songs he shared with me. Knocking on Heaven’s door, In the Arms of an angel, and Thanks for the memories. Well Don has been knocking on Heaven’s door the past few years. He now is in the Arms of his angel, Jane. And Don, thanks for the Memories, I will cherish them forever.

Don loved camping with the kids (scouts). I am glad I had so many opportunities to share those memories with Don. Of course you cannot mention Don without including Jane in the same sentence. I miss them both, and I know that they are together again.

I am very happy for Donnie as he is in a better place. His pain is a thing of the past.
