David A. (Skip) Buchanan

Lodi - David A. “Skip” Buchanan, age 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2012. He was born on June 14, 1941 in Lodi, the son of John and Cora (Carlson) Buchanan. After graduating in 1959 from Lodi High School, Skip worked with Tofte Marine in Madison, becoming a Master Mechanic with Mercury Outboards. He decided to become an over-the-road truck driver for ALKAR-DEC and traveled over one and a half million miles with his best friend and loyal dog, Lady. Skip was a member of several organizations including the Lodi Agriculture Fair board, Lodi JC’s and Lake WI. Boat Club. After retiring, Skip kept busy mowing lawns and working in his garage repairing and crafting wood and metal items for family and friends. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and the Green Bay Packers, but loved most of all the time spent with family and friends. Survivors include his partner and soul mate, Judy Latham; his grandchildren, Jessa and Taylor Byrd; his aunt Clarice (Brownrigg) Carlson; cousins, Jim (Sue) Carlson, Pam Webster, Brenda Hahn, Chris (Karl) Enockson, John Carlson, Julie (Mitch) Seston, Melanie (Guy) Ahlstrom and Linda Flentje; special nephew and niece, Cory and KateLynn Carlson; Judy’s children, Laurie (Eric) Jacobson, Shelby (Dan) Mulcahy, Darren (Treesh) Latham, and Torrey (Lynn) Latham; Judy’s grandchildren and great grandchildren, Theran (Carrie) Jacobson, Kegan and Sedona, Mindy (Chris) Mahnke, Reid and Lexi Jacobson, Tim and Malarie Mulcahy, Marie, Jay and Danny Latham and Caleb and Ali Latham and other relatives and many friends. Skip was preceded in death by parents, stepfather Gordon Dittberner; his daughter Tonya Buchanan; a special uncle Harold “Bud” Carlson; his sister-in-law, Janet Zimmerman Carlson; and his traveling companion “Lady”. Memorial services will be held at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 206 Pleasant St., at 6:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2012 with Rev. Michael Lee presiding. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until the time of service at the church on Friday. c.
