Reverend Monsignor Joseph P. Higgins

we are so sorry to see father has passed away. he married us in 1958 and someone told us that we were the first couple he married.

I grew up in Middleton attending St Bernard's Church. Fr Higgins was the priest who presided at my first communion mass as a child. I have many fond memories of Fr Higgins. Later on, when I was in high school, Fr Higgins collaborated with the youth minister in putting together a weekly Life Teen Mass - despite his many responsibilities and already presiding at several other weekend liturgies, he was willing to commit the time and energy into that outreach with young people. I have great gratitude for his life and ministry, and the witness of kindness, patience, and gentleness that permeated all he did. May he rest in peace.
