Glenn 'Pete' Birrenkott, Sr.

MADISON- Glenn “Pete” Birrenkott, Sr., age 83, passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born in Madison on Nov. 22, 1928, the son of Godfrey and Elizabeth (Clemens) Birrenkott. Glenn attended St. Bernards Grade School and graduated from Edgewood High School. After high school he spent time working on a farm. On May 13, 1950, Glenn was united in marriage to Mary Everhart. He started working with Strauss Printing Company and retired after 37 years as a lithographer. Glenn was a charter member of St. Dennis Catholic Church in Madison. One of his favorite pastimes was raising many varieties of pheasants. As an avid outdoorsman, Glenn enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, wood-cutting and recycling. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Everhart) Birrenkott; four children, Glenn (Marian) Birrenkott, Jr., Barb Kohl, Sue (Jerry) Schenk and Karen (Steve) Asbjornson; brother, John (Jack) Birrenkott; four grandchildren, Keri (David) Clark, Jacob Asbjornson, Cory Asbjornson and Anna (Marc) Pittman; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass on Tuesday.
