Beatrice L. 'Bea' Meyer

MCFARLAND-Beatrice L. “Bea” Meyer, age 87, of McFarland, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Karmenta Center. She was born on Sept. 20, 1925, in Lawton, Okla., the daughter of Omer and Opal Kelly. Bea grew up in Lawton, Okla. and Corpus Christi, Texas. She lived in Battle Creek, Mich. and moved to Sun Prairie, where she was a stay-at-home mom. After raising her children, she worked at Sun Prairie Canning Factory and Wisconsin Cheeseman. After many years, Bea retired from Swiss Colony. She loved to read and was an avid baseball fan, but her greatest passion and joy were her children. She also loved hamburgers, BLT’s, ice cream, and chocolate. Bea is survived by her son, William (Cindy) Engelke of Stoughton; daughter, Bonnie (Tim) Prosa of DeForest; granddaughters, Stacey Engelke and Shannon (Ramon) Holmes; and great-granddaughters, Tajah, Destiny, and Payton. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Meyer; Bill and Bonnie’s father, Fred W. Engelke; her parents; a sister, Oleta Ingram; and brother, William Ingram. Private graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Karmenta Center who cared for her the last few years, and to Heartland Hospice Service for their care and support these past few weeks.
