Obituary

MADISON/MONTREAL- Harriet Stein, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 22, 2012, in Monona, Wisconsin. Close family members were at her side. Harriet was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Dec. 3, 1917. As a young adult she was a gifted photographer capturing beautiful and moving images around New York and in Mexico. Harriet and Issie began their life together in Montreal where they raised four children in a loving and stimulating secular Jewish home. Eight years ago Harriet moved to Madison to be near her son, Marty and his family. Her life had many stages, but throughout she was strong, caring, creative and intelligent. Harriet is survived by her four children and their spouses, Philip (Effie), Shari (David), Martin (Julie) and Caroline (Tim). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Lara, Mira, Hannah, Tony, Claire, Ray, Gabby and Jonnie; and great-grandson, Lex. I became acquainted with Harriet while visiting my mother at Reynold's Assisted Living. I could tell that Harriet was a bright and gifted lady in her day. Peace to her family and sympathy from my family.

Condolences on Harriet's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of her and my mother, and our families together. I remember your house in Ville St. Laurent and still remember when we lived at your house for a few days one winter when there was a big storm and the power was off in Cartierville. (So many games of Monopoly!) If my mom was able to attend, she would be there.
