Catherine Wiese

MADISON –Catherine Wiese, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Middleton. She was born on April 13, 1923, in Dane, the daughter of George and Rose (Miller) Karls. Catherine married Bernard J. Wiese in July of 1946, in Madison. She attended school in Dane. Catherine was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very independent, caring and loving. Catherine is survived by a daughter, Geralyn Stewart-Mahal (Mike Mahal) of Middleton; four grandchildren, Gabe (Christina) Stewart, Blake Stewart (Lori Campbell), Macs Mahal and Madeline Mahal; she was excited for the upcoming birth of a great-grandchild expected this month; siblings, Alice Varese, Betty Williams and George (Connie) Karls, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Karls and Lillian Wiese; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernie in 1983; brothers, Harry (Joan) Karls and Edward Karls; sisters, Frances (Sam) Romano and Molly (Warren) Kimberley; and brother-in-law, William Wiese. Funeral services will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013. The family would like to express their thanks to Agrace HospiceCare for their care and compassion as well as her nieces, Diane Robertson, Cheryl Banker, and Dianna Wachter for all their support in her last weeks.
