Obituary

Wiesner, William E. “Bill” Sun Prairie/Poynette - William E. “Bill” Wiesner, age 83, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013. He was born on May 16, 1929 in Manitowoc, the son of Walter and Josephine (Krainik) Wiesner. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1947, Bill attended Elgin Watch Makers College in Elgin, Ill. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Bill married Jean Lampman on May 11, 1957 in Sun Prairie. After they were married, he established Wiesner Jewelers in Sun Prairie. Bill worked for Dykman Jewelers at Wolff Kubly and Hirsig. He expanded on his own on the Capital Square and in 1977, he moved to the First Star Bank. Bill retired in 2000, but continued doing watch repair for Skalitzky Jewelers in Sun Prairie until recently. He had a variety of interests including winters in Florida, traveling and camping with his family. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting with his son and nephew, boating and golf. Bill was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Poynette, the Sun Prairie VFW Post No. 9362, Sun Prairie Lions Club, Elks Lodge of Madison and the Manitowoc Knights of Columbus. He was nicknamed and lovingly called “Willow” by his family. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Jean, survivors include his son, Timothy (Penny); daughter, Camille (Daniel “Hoooch”) Richards; his “grandpuppies”, Guinness and Tres; his special nephews, Michael, and Patrick (Chris) Grainger; special niece, Susan (Alan) Spahn and her children, Deagan and Shea who knew Willow as “Uncle Pa”; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Arndt; his sister-in-law, Theresa Wiesner; other relatives; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy; and brother, John. Memorial services will be held at the HAMRE-GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 157 S. Main St., Lodi at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
