Obituary

MADISON-Virgina M. “Ginny” Post, age 88, passed away peacefully at Oak Park Assisted Living Memory Care in Madison, on Monday, April 1, 2013. She was born on May 21, 1924, in Patch Grove, the daughter of Richard and Mary Hanley. The family moved to Madison when she was very young and she attended St. Raphael’s grade school and then Madison Central High School. Ginny met her husband, Larry Post, after high school and they were married on Feb. 6, 1947, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Madison where she was still a member. She worked for General Telephone Co. before she was married. Ginny took several years off to help raise their five children and then returned to work as a switchboard operator at Madison General Hospital. She later took a position with University of Wisconsin in the Telecommunications Office where she became chief operator. Ginny and Larry both retired in 1986. They enjoyed traveling to the National Reunions of the 106th Infantry Division which Larry was a member. Ginny enjoyed cooking and crocheting and made many wonderful afghans for her family. She is survived by her three sons, Larry (Betty) Post of Portage, Tom Post (Vicki Harris)of Mt. Horeb, and David Post of Madison; two daughters, Mary (Bob) Pankratz of Madison and Theresa Post of Madison; two grandsons, Paul (Sue) Post and Todd (Michele) Post; two great-grandsons, Ryley Post and Dain Post; sister, Margaret Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; and sister, Rosemary Halzel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST.BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Oak Park Memory Care for the loving care they provided Virginia these past 5 years. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST.BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding.
