August Troia

MADISON-August Troia, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Oct. 14, 1925, in Milwaukee. August married Edith Fuller on Oct. 2, 1948. Edith preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2011. August was a lifelong resident of Madison, growing up in the Greenbush area. He was in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. After many years of employment at the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, he later retired. August is survived by his daughters, Kathleen (Alan) McFarland of N.Y. and Nancy of Milwaukee; son, Tom of Janesville and Michael; grandchildren, Kersten Troia and Fiona, Camilla, and Luke McFarland; brother, Mel Troia; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith on Oct. 11, 2011; brothers; and sister. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013.
