Obituary

MADISON- Catherine Theresa (Gillitzer) McGrath, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Feb. 7, 1928, in Eastman, the daughter of Aloysius and Anna (McNamara) Gillitzer. On Oct. 4, 1952, she was united in marriage to Richard J. McGrath. Catherine was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and known for her amazing pie and divinity. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in her family’s accomplishments. As the leader of our family, Catherine shared her deep faith and devotion with all. She will be dearly missed, yet live on in our hearts forever. Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Richard J. McGrath; children, Douglas (Christine) McGrath, Mary McGrath, Lucy (Mike) Bertelsen and Daniel (Marilyn) McGrath; seven grandchildren, Elise, Michael, Jennifer, Christopher, Joseph, Steven and Ryan; siblings, Rita Lester, Eugene (Mary) Gillitzer, John (Norma) Gillitzer and Roger (Janice) Gillitzer; brother-in-law, Thomas Check; and many family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Agnes Gillitzer, Bernard (Marcella) Gillitzer, Anna Marie (John) Lathrop and Loretta Check; and brother-in-law, Lyle Lester. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at Noon, on Thursday, June 6, 2013, with Monsignor Michael Hippee and Monsignor Duane Mollenbrandt co-concelebrating. Burial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
