Obituary

MADISON-Ella Louise Stankevich, age 88, of Madison, died on Friday, May 17, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. Louise was born on April 28, 1925, in Madison. Louise was united in marriage to George E. Stankevich in 1949, after they met at a veteran’s dance. They danced together for 60 years. She and George built a family business, ServiceMaster, which allowed them to travel with many friends and family. Louise was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Louise is survived by her daughter, Carol Stankevich-Rolfe; grandchildren, Kelly (Brian) Tetting, Ryan (Amy) Smith, Adam Stankevich, Christopher Smith, Ashley (Andrew) Rolfe, Steven Stankevich, Emily Rolfe, and Max Rolfe; great grandchildren, Braden, Ethan, and Ayla Tetting; two brothers, Paul (Lois) Keenan and Robert (Janet) Keenan; sister, Helen Senger; daughter-in-law, Geri Stankevich; and many lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her son, David Stankevich; daughter, Marcia Stankevich Smith; and husband, George Stankevich. A Mass of Christian Burial for Louise will be celebrated at. ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Haack’s Tendercare of Sun Prairie, caregivers and staff members, and the wonderful nurses and doctors of St. Mary’s MICU Unit and 5th floor. She will be deeply missed by her daughter. Mom/Grandma, your sunshine, knowledge, compassion, strength, and more will be truly missed.
