Donna Isabelle (Binger) Vaughn

MADISON-Donna Isabelle (Binger) Vaughn, age 82, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013. She was born in Madison on July 11, 1930, to Leon F. and Isabelle A. Binger. Donna was united in marriage to John Paul Vaughn on August 30, 1952, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. They enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Las Vegas. Donna liked to play bingo at the VFW and was an avid bowler like the rest of the family. She made every gathering special, hosting all family holidays, events, and celebrations. As Donna would say, “The party’s always in the kitchen.” Paul and Donna looked forward to their weekly Friday date nights with good friends. Donna was a proud graduate of Madison West High School, class of 1948. After raising five children she enjoyed a 17 year career with the State of Wisconsin, retiring in 1990. Donna is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John Paul; three sons, Mike (Ed Baskiewicz) of Brooklyn, NY, Tim of Chicago, Il, and Jim (Sandy Meyers) of Madison; two daughters, Patty (Dan) Grubb and Jenny (Marty) Mathison, also of Madison; three grandsons, Ryan, Brady, and Tyler Grubb; four granddaughters, Deidre, Jennah, Sarah, and Emma Vaughn; daughter-in-law, Terry Vaughn; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert, Ed, Jim, and Leon; and sister, Betty. Funeral services will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 413 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at church. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with lunch to follow at St. Dennis. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to the Susan G. Komen South Central Wisconsin Affiliate or the Leukemia Society of America. Donna was a proud, life-long resident of Madison. She had her own sense of timing. She was a sweet, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She maintained her unique sense of humor even through her multiple health issues. We are grateful she is now pain free.
