Obituary
LORRAINE B. (KIESOW) BYINGTON, age 80, of Madison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 6, 2013, following a short stay at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Lorraine was born on October 10, 1932 in Horicon, the only daughter of August and Lydia (Drews) Kiesow. She married Richard Byington, the son of Henry and Bessie Byington of Eagle River, on August 30, 1958 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Horicon and they settled in Madison. Lorraine briefly attended UW-Whitewater before enlisting in the United States Women’s Army Corp where she worked as a switchboard operator from 1950-56, during the Korean War. Lorraine and all six of her brothers proudly served in the United States Military. While serving her country, she was stationed in Europe and Japan, which she considered a privilege and joy to experience each country and their unique cultures. After marrying Richard, Lorraine stayed home to raise their children until they were school-aged, then went back to work as a data processor. From 1985 until her retirement in 2000, Lorraine served at the national service center of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA. Later in life she traveled to Jamaica and to Israel, which was her dream. Lorraine loved to read the Word; was a Packer, Brewer and Badger fan; cherished time with her grandchildren; enjoyed the outdoors, quiet drives in the country, church services and special conferences. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and bowling; but throughout her adult life, road trips were always a priority she would make time for and took the most pleasure in. When she smiled, she was known to often grin wide and had a joyous laugh; Lorraine loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and soul and longed for the day she would behold Him face-to-face. Survivors include her sons John Byington of Madison, and Alan (Lisa) Byington of Sun Prairie, and daughter Diane (Paul) Borman of Madison; grandchildren Jacob, Mykayla and Seth Byington; step granddaughters Estrella and Alisia Borman, and Olivia (Quinn) Ruff; step great-grandchildren Logan, Kalob, Ella, Dylan and Autumn; brothers Norman Kiesow of Beaver Dam, and Donald Kiesow of Orlando, Florida; sisters-in-law Kathryn Miller of Beaver Dam, Nan Jean Kiesow of Brandon, Norma Kiesow of Sun Prairie, Pearl Kiesow of Orlando, Florida, Joyce Koski of Phelps, and Marilyn Congleton of Rockford, Illinois; brothers-in-law Clark (Judy) Byington of Rockford, Illinois, and Keith (Fran) Byington of Fallon, Nevada; many nieces and nephews, cousins, neighbors and close friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, her husband Richard; brothers Arthur, Marvin, Reinhardt and Orville Kiesow; brothers-in-law Vernon Congleton and William Koski, sisters-in-law Evy Kiesow, Jean Becker, June Kiesow; nephews Richard Becker, Clayton Byington, and Norman Kiesow, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2670 Milwaukee Street in Madison with the Rev. Mark Bartels officiating. To whomever---I will truely miss Lorraine as she has been one of the most significant people in my life. She accepted me into her family knowing who I was before and who I am now-She helped mold me into a Christian man and didnt even know it. She instilled Christian belief's into her three kids lives(all whom I love dearly)and as a direct result of this and my highschool sweetheart-her daughter Diane I was given the chance to have the seed planted and watered. Thank you Lorraine I love you and will miss you----Paul Borman-----

My condolences to Lorraine's family. Lorraine and I spent many joyous hours in the study of the Word. She was truly a woman of deep and abiding faith and found true delight in studying the Scriptures. Now her insatiable quest for understanding Scriptures has been fulfilled and every question answered.

Hello, Diane,
May the Great Comforter walk with you as you miss your mom. I'd either not heard of many of your mom's life events or had forgotten some of them. She was a wonderful friend, caring person, woman of God. I know you and your family will miss her.
In Christ, Carole (Grady) Scharkey
