Obituary

MADISON- Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Scott, age 65, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday July 6th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 17th, 1948 to Oswald and Bernadette (Schwab) Ballweg. She grew up in Roxbury, WI, attending St. Norbert’s Grade School and Sauk Prairie Schools. She later went on to graduate from MATC. She married Larry Scott on August 9th, 1969 at St. Norbert’s church in Roxbury, WI. They have three children and five grandchildren. Kathy spent her 40 year career at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, starting out as a medical transcriptionist and retiring three and a half years ago as the administrative assistant to the Chief of Pharmacy. She was driven by the love and devotion she had for her family and friends. She was the original soccer mom, enjoying the countless hours organizing team functions, tournaments and travelling across the midwest to cheer on her daughter’s teams. She bowled in the Even Dozen bowling league for 33 years, also serving for many years as the league secretary. She and her family made their home in the Heritage Heights neighborhood and she held the position of block captain for many years. With three girls all active in Girl Scouting, she spent many years as the ‘cookie mom’ for her daughter’s troops. She was not only the social director for our family, but also for her many groups of friends, extended family and the various organizations in which she participated. She was a lifelong fan of the Badgers, Packers & Brewers and enjoyed watching her grandkids in their various sporting endeavors. She loved to travel, especially with her family, longtime friends Bob & Diane Hanson and spending Friday nights dining out and playing cards with Sonny & Shirley Edge. Kathy is survived by Larry, her loving husband of nearly 44 years, her three daughters and their families. Daughter Amy, son-in-law Billy and granddaughter Kiera Stack.
