Obituary
MADISON-Larry R. Soerens, age 65, passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm on Saturday, July 13, 2013. He was born on Jan. 3, 1948, in Sheboygan, the son of Robert and Doris (Prinsen) Soerens. He married Theresa (Cunningham) on Sept. 23, 2000, at Olbrich Gardens in Madison. Larry graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, and was stationed in Germany. After the military, Larry had a life-long career in the Transportation Industry. He enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, traveling, working on projects, and tinkering around the house. He was very outgoing and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Larry is survived by his wife, Theresa; children, Natalie (Ben) Wieberdink, Darien and Ashley Moran, and Tom Cunningham; grandchildren, Ross and Haley Wieberdink, Jamie, Stephanie, and Crystal Cunningham; father-in-law, Donald Cunningham; siblings, Charles (Vendla) Soerens, Barbara (Gerald) Simmelink, Randall (Becky) Soerens, Susan (Ken) Nelson, and Joel (Joy) Soerens; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and mother-in-law, Rosemary Cunningham. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. The family would like to thank Larry for being in their life. Have a long history with Larry starting with my formative years and as Natalie's godmother/aunt. He was always good for an interesting conversation and laugh. Sadly, Ross and Haley will miss the opportunity to know their grandfather...a good man and father.
