Photo Duffey, Robert J. “Bob” MONONA-Robert J. “Bob” Duffey, age 73, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, after a valiant battle with cancer and Chronic Obstruction Pulmonary Disease. Bob was born on Jan. 18, 1940, in Dodgeville, the son of Ralph and Lorene (Burreson) Duffey. He graduated from Barneveld High School in 1957 and moved to Madison. Bob met his wife and forever love, Karen L. Dybdal in Madison. They were married on Aug. 12, 1961, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a mass and blessing at Immaculate Heart of Mary, in Monona, by Father Bart Timmerman, and would have celebrated 52 years in August, 2013. Bob and Karen have two wonderful sons, Randy and Ron, and two granddaughters, Jacqueline and Jessica, all of whom they love very much. Bob worked for the State of Wisconsin Highway Department for 37 years. He enjoyed playing euchre, and after retiring, Bob played in many local euchre tournaments. He also loved football, especially the Green Bay Packers and the Badgers. Bob is survived by his wife and best friend, Karen; loving sons, Randy of New York and Ron (Patricia) of Georgia; two loving grandchildren, Jacqueline and Jessica of New York; sisters, Boni (Wayne) Kuenzi of Madison, and Debra (Randy) Dunn of East Troy; brothers, James Duffey of Madison, and Gregory (Shirley) Duffey of Barneveld; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen; and niece, Toni. Bob will be dearly missed by all of those who knew him and loved him. Our family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, and Agrace HospiceCare for their wonderful and loving care throughout these last months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. A Rosary will be prayed at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 4 p.m. followed by visitation until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish in Monona, Dane County Humane Society, or Wisconsin Sheltie Rescue for the love of Bob’s pets. A special thank you goes out to all our friends at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Father John Silva, Father Bart Timmerman, and Kathy Marshall. Also, a very special thank you goes to friends and family for all the prayers. Nothing can ever take away the love a heart holds dear. Fond memories linger every day. Dear Karen and Family;
I wanted to say that I'm truly sorry for your loss. There are no words to describe what you are truly feeling, but have faith in God that he has taken Uncle Bob out of any pain and brought him to his true home. If there is anything we can do to help make your day any easier; we are here for you. Uncle Bob was a wonderful man with a huge heart. He would want everyone to continue living life and be happy as he was such a selfless person. He will be truly missed by many!!! We love you Uncle Bob!!!!

Karen, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will always remember Bob's friendly smile and wave as he passed by our house on his walks. His kind words and support during difficult times in my life will never be forgotten. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all during this difficult time.

I was born and raised in Hollandale and am the same age as bob. I drank many beers with him and played euchre with him in Barneveld and at the 3 bells in Madison. bob always had a smile. the thing I remember most is what a classy dresser he was. always dressed to the nines. my sympathy goes out to the family. another thing I remember is that I never saw him angry.

Bob and I worked together at Manchester's department store as elevator operators late in the late 50's.Bob's elevator was always full young beautiful girls,while mine was full of older ladies,he was the rock star of elevator operators. His hair style never changed since then nor his handsome looks. We both belong to the same church over the many years and lived in the same area.Thanks for being my friend and I will be seeing you soon.

Hello Ron and Family-
It’s been many years since we have seen each other. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to attend the visitation yesterday evening.
I had discussions with your dad at Immaculate Heart of Mary, and he was always such a nice gentleman. I hope you find comfort in the good memories you had with your father.
