Gene A Sherven

OREGON-Gene A. Sherven, age 69, of Oregon, passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1944 in rural Mt. Horeb, the son of Eugene and Arlene (Elmer) Sherven. Gene started his career as a Police Officer. He changed paths and drove semi-truck for many years. He drove for the 7-Up company for 21 years and the Wingra Stone Company for 14 years. He retired in 2005. He played the organ, piano, guitar and the accordion. He enjoyed playing music in church for many years. He loved polka music, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, and old western movies. He lived for God and his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Julie; three sons, Jeff (Ann) of Stoughton, Craig (Renae) of McFarland, and Troy (Beth) of Oregon; nine grandchildren; sister, Joanne (Bob) Hiltbrand of Mt. Horeb. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Nathan; his uncle, Royal Elmer; and several other relatives. Funeral services will be held at HILLCREST BIBLE CHURCH, 752 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
