Obituary

MADISON-Dan Herlitzka, age 73, died on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. Dan was a rock star in his fight against cancer. His fortitude and positive attitude during the long battle brought richness to all of our lives. When you were lucky enough to spend time with him throughout his life, you always walked away with the gift of his energy and sense of humor. Dan was a loving and caring husband to his wife, Renny, and a loving father to his daughter, Tammy. When he wasn’t with them, he spent his time hunting, fishing, gardening and helping his neighbors with yard work and snow removal. Dan had a knack for tracking deer and prided himself on being back at the camper within a half an hour of opening day with a buck! He was a loyal member of Laborers Union #464. He worked as a Journeyman Plumber on several buildings and streets in Madison and surrounding cities. He enjoyed his friends from East Towne Walkers. Politics was Dan’s battle of choice. He followed both parties and was well informed. We will miss Dan but know that his strength and positive energy lives on in all of us. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Danny you always kept me on my toes and questioning my opinions. I will miss your humor, readiness to help, and down to earth view of life. Despite that, i refuse to cut my grass or yours "straight". I will miss you. Jude
