Loretta S. "Toots" Maier

CROSS PLAINS – Loretta S. “Toots” Maier, age 82 passed away Sunday Dec. 15, 2013 at her home unexpectedly. She was born June 6, 1931 in the Springfield Township of Wis. to Mary and Melchior Koch. She was united in marriage to Wendelin G. Maier of Martinsville on June 10, 1952 at St Michaels in Dane. They recently celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. Mom enjoyed being a farmer’s wife, taking care of their children and tending to the garden. She loved to dance and meet people. Loretta was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women at St Francis Xavier Parish. Wendelin and Loretta had seven children. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 year, Wendelin G. Maier and seven children; Larry (Pat) Maier of Sauk City, Paul (Elsie) Maier of Mazomanie, Lucy (David) Harris of Black Earth, Janet (Eric) Gullickson of Glasgow, MT; Tony (Judy) Maier of Prairie du Sac, Sharon (Tom) Linley of Cross Plains, Vern (Charlene) Maier of Middleton; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister Geraldine (Jack) Laufenberg of Waunakee and a brother, Jerome (Joan) Koch of Waunakee. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Bernadette Breunig and Agnes Kohlman; and two brothers, Francis Koch and John Koch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH 2939 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Father Tom Kelley presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, December 20, 2013, from 4pm-7pm and also from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. Services provided by Gunderson Funeral Home of Middleton. Mom will be missed by us all, but we find comfort in knowing she is united in faith with God.
