Obituary
WREND, DONNA JEAN (VICK)
MONONA – Donna Jean Wrend (Vick), age 79, of Monona, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on April 14, 1934, the daughter of Hiram and Theo (Denson) Vick. She was united in marriage to her soul mate, John Wrend, on March 12, 1955, in Madison. Donna was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and served in the choir for many years. She was a quilter extraordinaire and enjoyed her sewing circle. Donna loved flowers, gardening, reading, crafts and music. She worked as a legal secretary and was a member of Italian Workman’s Club. Donna also worked at the Herald-Independent. Above all else, Donna’s cup of love over-flowed for her family and friends. She displayed this in every facet of her life and there was always enough of her delicious bread and an extra chair at the table for those who needed it. Donna was a perfect example for her children and grandchildren of what a mother and wife should be. Donna is survived by her husband of 59 years, John; children, Jayne (Louis) Frelin, John (Jolene) Renda , Joelle (Tom) Delury, Jim (Barb) Renda and Joyce (J.R. Chavez) Wrend; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Clara Gandolph, Tom (Nancy) Vick, Robert (Karen) Vick; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Betty Webb; Richard Vick. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at Noon on Feb. 1, 2014, with the Rev. Lori Powell presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 605 Spruce St., Madison, WI 53715. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. We love you and miss you and your memory will carry on through us for generations to come.

So sad to hear of Aunt Donna's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of her, including a quilt she made for me that I still use to this day. To Uncle John and all of my family, you are all in my prayers that the peace of God which passes all understanding will overwhelm you in this difficult time.

Donna: Lady of the Home
I will remember her well for her patience and kindness toward me. She made me beautiful Barbie clothes for my doll, she let me eat dinners and spend the night with her family, she offered an ear to my worries and childish concerns. She was the first to tell me, "To have friends, one must be a friend." She told me those words when I was 12 and exemplified them her entire life. I love her still.
