I grew up just 2 doors away from Bob & Alice. They were always like a second set of parents to me and their children like extra brothers. We shared many happy times in the old neighborhood. I will miss Bob's perpetual good humor and lively stories. Better people can seldom be found. Rest in peace Bob, you've earned it. James Lautzenhiser

Dear Steve, Danny, Jimmy, Mike, Barbara, Bobby and Kristine, I received word last night that Uncle Bob had passed. I am so very sorry! It seems unbelievable that he and Cos should pass so close to one another. Besides greiving for your dad, I find myself in grief at the passing of the era of the "Fighting Hoffmans", the Hoffman Enterprise creating Hoffman brothers. They left a wonderful legacy for us all. We are lucky in that, even as we mourn the end of their chapter, their heritage continues on within each of us. How fitting that Uncle Bob died during Passover week, right before Easter, the holiday that reminds us that even as a loved one such as your dad leaves this life, he is merely moving on to the next realm. I hope the 9 Hoffman brothers are all happily reunited at last. Again, my most heartfelt condolences at the loss of your dad. With love and wishes for a most meaningful Easter, Your cousin, Sue Missoula, MT

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. His passing marks the official end to the Hoffman Brothers era, which is sad in of itself. I really enjoyed seeing Uncle Bob the last time I was in Madison several years ago. He brought many smiles to my face and, obviously still had the gift for "gab", as I think all the brothers had. My heart goes out to all of you. Judy Hoffman, Boulder Colorado
