Obituary
FITCHBURG / MADISON- Wilson "Bud" Waggener, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2014. He was born March 14, 1931 in Kansas, the eldest son of a traveling salesman, and moved 36 times before his H.S. graduation. He graduated from Kansas University, Lawrence in Architectural Engineering, where he met the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Kathy. After moving to Wisconsin they raised three children and instilled in them solid Midwest ethics and values. Bud was a passionate advocate for improving accessibility for those with physical handicaps, especially those with MS. Some of his best memories included his grandchildren, photography, family genealogy, and visiting our National Parks. He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 44 years. Through his years of physical challenges he always remained focused on what he could do. He was described as "profoundly polite" by several of his caregivers at St Mary’s Care Center and Agrace HospiceCare, and many commented on his slightly wry sense of humor. Bud has said a brief farewell to his wife; three children, Christine Paris, Wade and Carol; three grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, church member and friend. A memorial service will be held at WESTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 4100 Nakoma Rd., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Sunday, May 25, 2014. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the National MS Society- Wisconsin Chapter or the Alzheimer's Association- South Central Wisconsin Chapter. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
