LORENZ, EDWARD C., JR.
MADISON-Edward C. Lorenz, Jr., age 90, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He was born on May 10, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Edward and Ada (Trainor) Lorenz. Ed served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps with the Air Craft carriers during World War II. After the war, he met and married Alice Lang. They moved to Madison where he went to work for First National Bank, now U.S. Bank, for over 51 years where he held many different positions. He was active with the Boy Scout Troop No. 34 of St. Bernard Catholic Church for over 25 years. Ed was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and Eastside Business Men’s Association. Ed is survived by his six children, Mike (Mary Beth) Lorenz of Sun Prairie, Rick (Patti) Lorenz of Lodi, Jon (Marlene) Lorenz of Suffolk, Va., Bill (Susan) Lorenz of Pardeeville, Sue (Dennis) Owen of Madison and Mary Osborne; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special friend, Virginia Morehouse; a sister, Marjorie (Fred) Wedderspoon of Verona; and a brother, Ronald Lorenz of Hayward. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; and a son, Jerome. A funeral liturgy will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014, with Father Michael Radowicz officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Monday. Ed was such a mentor to me when I started at First Wisconsin back in the late 80's. He taught me the ropes and he made a lasting impression on me...you come to work smartly dressed, get your job done and always have a smile on your face. He will be remembered fondly. I met Ed at then First National Bank on 1 S Pinckney! He then worked in Paying and Receiving and I worked across the corner in Savings! I met my future husband at the wedding reception of fellow co worker, Mark Fritz. Marrying a fellow co worker, I had to quit the Bank but through my husband. Ellsworth Peterson, we stayed somewhat in touch by attending the Bank softball games. They both played and Alice and I were in the audience, of course, cheering!
When El died, Ed came to give his condolences to which our 4 girls and I will always remember! Thank you, Ed and God be with your family!!

My sincere condolences go out to all the Lorenz siblings along with my thoughts and prayers. I've known Ed for over 55 years ever since his wife Alice was my den leader in cub scouts. Then I had the pleasure of having Ed as one of my scout leaders while in troop 34 at St. Benard's. He had a great gift of gab and was well liked by everyone.

I always enjoyed Ed coming into the East Side club for Fish Fry or Sunday Brunch. You just never knew what he was up to. A real jokster he was. He will be missed by many. RIP Ed! Onto your next chapter of life.
