Obituary
Gilbertsen, Helen Mary (Sennett)
MADISON-Helen Mary (Sennett) Gilbertsen, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Harmony Living Center. She was born on May 5, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Dore). She married George Karsten Gilbertsen on Nov. 27, 1948, at St. Raphael’s Cathedral in Madison. Helen worked for MATC as a secretary for 20 years, until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed golfing and bowling with her husband. Helen and George really enjoyed their retirement together. They went on many trips across the United States. Helen especially enjoyed her three week trip to Ireland where she got in touch with her roots. She and George enjoyed hosting many parties over the years. Helen would provide the food and George and his band would provide the entertainment. When Helen and George weren’t throwing a party, they would explore the country roads looking for fishing holes and places to gather walnuts and hickory nuts. Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Helen is survived by her husband, George; children, Jerry, Rose (Philip) Buechner, Nancy and Mary Leiser; nine grandchildren, Annie, Helen, Sarah, George, Chris, Jamie, Kristen, Nathan and Gabe; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Joe and Fran. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Smokie George- So sorry to hear about Helen. We didn't know her personally, but you and the other Ramblers always treated your fans like family, so we feel like we did. Your song, "I've got a crush on you" comes to mind. Again our condolences. Take care. Mike & Jan Muskat

Spent many good times at the Gilbersen household when I was a child. Mary was my best friend and I remember sleep overs and seeing George and Helen sitting at the kitchen table on weekend nights. They were always so inviting and welcoming. Mary and George you are in my thoughts. Thank you Helen! Tracy Cuccia
