Roy Sauer, Jr.

SAUER, ROY A. JR. MADISON – Roy A. Sauer Jr., age 63, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014. He was born on Nov. 6, 1950, in Madison, the son of Roy E. Sauer, Sr. and Beverly J. Wolfe. Roy was a graduate of River Valley High School and also attended the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse on a football scholarship. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a member of the 1/509 Airborne Infantry Division in Germany where he played semi-pro baseball. He had many passions including hunting, fishing, and playing sports. He won many awards for his participation in Fast Pitch Softball playing with the Mad Town Flyers team. He enjoyed several years of coaching for East Madison Little League where he was a role model and father figure to everyone on his team. He was so proud of the athlete his son, J.R., became. Roy will always be remembered for his compassionate heart, big hardy laugh, and the love he had for his family, children, and granddaughter. He is survived by his mother, Beverly J. Wolfe; daughter, Natalya Sauer; son, John Roy Sauer; granddaughter, Samaya Sauer; brothers, Steven and Robert (Bob) Sauer; and sisters; Rene Springer and Bett Sawle. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Roy E. Sauer, Sr.; grandparents, Stanley and Beulah Olson and Frank and Josephine Sauer. A private committal service will be held with Steven and Rene Springer officiating. Everyone is welcome to join us for a Memorial Benefit that will be held at the AMERICAN LEGION POST #245, 2217 American Legion Drive, Cross Plains, from Noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014.
