Obituary
MADISON–Jesse E. Rosas, age 70, of Madison, passed away after his courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014. He was surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on Sept. 14, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Guadalupe and Olivia Rosas. His family moved from San Antonio to the Endeavor/Briggsville area of Wisconsin, where he proudly worked as a migrant worker. Jesse then moved to Madison where he worked at Ray-o-Vac Corporation for 14 years. After getting his GED he went on to pursue and land the career that he absolutely loved, with the City of Madison Water Utility. He retired after 28 years, in 2011, making many friends along the way. He met the love of his life, Rebecca Rosas in 1979, and they enjoyed 35 years together. During that time they raised eight children together, Jesse (Jeanie) Rosas, Marcheta (Steven) Stoflet, Rebecca (John) Rosas-Berney, Carmen Rosas, Mickey Rosas, Brian Hamilton (Kristen), Aaron (Ileia) Rosas and Sara Rosas (Cole). Jesse enjoyed spending time fishing, playing slot machines at Ho-Chunk and traveling with the love of his life. He was an avid fan of the Badgers, Brewers and Packers. His true passion was camping and spending time with his family. Jesse is survived by his wife; seven children; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by four sisters; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; a sister; and his beloved daughter, Mickey. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 10 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Jesse’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Lamar and the nursing staff at Meriter Unity Point, 11th floor heart unit. His wife would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Hei, at UW Health Carbone Cancer Center. Jesse trusted and valued your care and sincerity along his fearless fight. Another special thank you to Cynthia, his chemo nurse and the rest of the nursing staff. Jesse lived as Elvis famously stated in his song….I did it my way!
