Dana and I met at the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival two years ago. I was assigned to help her set up her campsite, and we hit it off so well. She was kind, funny, generous of spirit, and smart as hell. We had so much fun she asked for me to help tear down her site, and help her the following year. I am so very glad I had the chance to get to know Dana (my computer doesn't do a tilde, or I don't know how to make it do one!). One thing we joked about is how much stuff she brought to festival. Her screen tent was a mess when we tried to set it up last year and she pulled out a tool from her belt. We had to take part of it apart and put it back together to get it set up correctly. She loved the festival and the community connections. I live in Wisconsin and when I was in Madison on a business trip we had dinner together and had a grand time getting to know one another better. I learned more about her adventurous spirit and activism. Dana was one of my favorite people, and a butch role model for me. I will miss her, and speak her name in sacred space.

Dana was a good friend and a professional colleague for many years. We both grew up in the South and shared quite a few common experiences which helped shape our mutual appreciation for each other. A woman of true courage, vision and passion for doing the right thing. To say we will all miss her, is indeed, and understatement. Rest in peace, Dear Sister. BF.
