MONONA–Joseph A. Frisch, age 87, passed away at his home in Monona, on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, with his family by his side. He was born on March 23, 1927, in Middleton, the son of Andrew and Bertha (Dahl) Frisch. On April 26, 1952, Joe married Josephine “Josie” Gasser, and settled in Monona, where they raised their family. Joe attended Middleton Junction School and Middleton High School. Joe and Josie lived a simplistic lifestyle filled with love for family and friends. They enjoyed many hobbies including dancing and traveling. Each year, neighbors and family reaped the rewards of a bountiful harvest of tomatoes, apples, squash and raspberries from their vast garden. Joe was always working in his yard and appreciated his wonderful neighbors. He was particularly well known in the community for his small engine repair service. Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, card playing, tinkering and inventing, and his friends at the VFW. He was a founding member of the “Speedway Club”, a small cabin in the North woods where he hunted and played cards. Joe was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Parish where he volunteered as an usher. Joe is survived by his children, Tom (Lori) Frisch, Greg (Nancy) Frisch, Diane (Dan) Stapleton, and Joan Severson (Bob Krolnik); grandchildren, Scott Jawson, Monica (Ryan) Dubs, Andrea Jawson, Paul Frisch, Alyssa Frisch, Racie Frisch, and Chelsea Severson; great-grandchildren, Evan Dubs, Carson Dubs, and Brian LaBarge; sister, Florence (Andy) Annen; and his special friend, Dottie DeLaurier. We are sorry Joe will no longer "be there" in person for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all his friends and neighbors. He leaves big footprints and wonderful memories for all who knew him. Truly a man to look up to.
