Obituary
CARPENTER, MAYNARD C. “Bumpa”
MIDDLETON-Maynard “Bumpa”Charles Carpenter, age 79, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg, after a bout with cancer. Maynard was born on July 16, 1935, the son of Myron and Anna (Jensen) Carpenter. He was raised on a farm north of Red Granite and later moved to Lohrville where he loved the quarries. Maynard graduated from Wautoma High School in 1953, and served two years active duty in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Jo Tritt on May 19, 1956. They lived in Peshtigo for ten years before moving to Middleton. Maynard was a banker for many years, he then began selling insurance and securities. He and Jo enjoyed traveling to Europe, Hawaii, throughout the U.S., and especially to TyBee Island, GA., where they spent many winters. He also enjoyed jogging, skiing and cycling as well as gardening. More than anything else, he loved talking about history, World War II, politics, you name it. Maynard spent a lot of time in his workshop making toys for his grandchildren and great grandsons. He had a beautiful voice and loved singing in different choirs and singing along while playing his ukulele. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Tripoli Shrine Club. Maynard is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jo; two daughters, Carol Menz and Julie Hoffman; three grandchildren, Jameson and Kramer (Stephanie) Menz and Joss Hoffman; two great-grandsons, Micah and Rowan Menz; a sister, Norma (Michael) Eagan; several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Living Waters Church of Sun Prairie-Children’s Ministry.

My dad has gone to heaven, I know that for a fact.
God welcomed him with open arms, said “Bumpa, welcome back!”
He gave so generously of self, to family and to friends,
And we will miss him terribly, his earthly journey ends.
But life goes on for Bumpa, in God’s mansion in the sky…
He’ll claim rewards for living well…his grade is A----it’s high!
If he could be here now he’d say, “be happy, don’t feel sad.”
“For, I’ve gone home to a better day, rejoice with me, be glad.”
“I love you all, I’ll miss you too, I thank you for your love.”
But remember that I’m always here, guiding from above.
In loving memory of Bumpa!
Thank you for everything, Dad---Carol

Red & I shared many special days together in the work force as I met him in 1979.
He taught me a lot of history as he loved to share his enthusiasm for what had happened in the past & what was happening in the present.
He had extreme integrity and most appreciated his family, friends, clients and co-workers. He will be missed dearly. I'm thankful I was able to let him know he was loved.
Blessings to Red's entire family....You ALL were his pride & joy and his legacy lives on in you.
God Bless you All......
Carol: LOVED your poem!
