Rice, Carroll Jr. “Slim”
COTTAGE GROVE-Carroll Rice, Jr., died peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at his home in Cottage Grove. He was born on April 27, 1934, in Buckham County, N.C., to Carl and Addie (Wilson) Rice. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954, and served for four years. Slim spent over 30 years driving semi’s all around the United States. He married Lois Rice on Aug. 4, 1984. Slim is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Deb (Mike) Gimer; stepdaughters, Sharon Minoso, Connie (Mary) Rice and Carol (Dave ) Smithson; stepsons, Robert (Debbie) Rice, Tim (Cindy) Rice, Rick Rice, Randy (Patti) Rice, Danny (JoAnn) Rice and Jim Rice; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary; brothers, Melvin, Earl and Bud; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Nancy; son-in-law, Minnie; sisters, Dorris, Shirley, Carrie and Betty; and brother, John. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at noon, on Thursday, April 16, 2015, with the Rev. Stephen Marsh presiding. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
