Our love and prayers go out to the Michael family. David was a wonderful pastor and friend. It is bitter sweet that he left us today, on a Sunday morning -- the day he officiated at our wedding exactly 45 years ago today at Zion UCC in Burlington. Linda, Sara, Tim, and Johanna, we love you all so much. David will be greatly missed.

David Michael was an angel, in the sense that he was a messenger of God to me. Through this humble man, the Holy Spirit went to work on a sometimes confused teenager in Burlington, Iowa, and called him to ordained ministry in the United Church of Christ. Through "Pastor Michael," as we knew him at Zion Church forty-five years ago, God became flesh in new ways and the living witness of Christ's church took on new meaning for me. Ten years my senior, we enjoyed theological conversation together for nearly half a century, during which he was pastor, mentor, colleague and friend. Thanks be to God for this big brother in the faith!
