Obituary

BLACK EARTH-Larenese M. Hinrichs, 83, of rural Black Earth, died on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at BrightStar Senior Living, Madison. She was born on September 8, 1933 to Anna and William Santos. Lari was one of 11 children, including William Jr., Lenora, Irene, Howard, Tony, Sandra, Ramona, Alice, Geri and Sylvester.  After a whirlwind three-dates-in-three-days courtship, Lari married Donald Hinrichs on February 7, 1953. They renewed their marriage vows after 50 years in 2003. Lari and Don raised six children: Bill, Dee Dee, Dan, Annette, Trish and Michael. They had 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Lari worked at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison for 33 years in nursing and ambulance services, engineering and building management. She was a proud member of the American Federation of Government Employees and served as the chapter's president.  In the early 1980s, Don and Lari moved from Madison to the Town of Berry where they lived their dream of country life with a big garden, lots of flowers and a yard that Lari liked to keep looking nice. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cross Plains.  Bowling was Lari's passion. She belonged to leagues in Madison and bowled on her Union team. She loved road trips with her sisters, traveling the world with her daughter, winters in Texas and simply chilling in her easy chair watching her favorite TV programs. Lari had a huge smile and a quick, dry wit. She made the best potato salad.  Lari was preceded in death by her husband; five siblings; her son, Bill; and her canine best buddy, Pugsley.  Lari's family is grateful to the staff of BrightStar Senior Living for the excellent care and compassion they provided. We also want to thank Cheryl and Kathy from St. Francis Xavier who offered spiritual support and prayed with Lari when she needed comfort. Like so many, Lari was forced to endure the physical and emotional ravages of cancer and strokes for the past nine months. We are thankful that her suffering has ended and celebrate a life well lived.  A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 11 a.m.  on Friday, September 25,2015 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Those wishing to make a memorial in Lari's name may consider the Huntington's Disease Society of America at www.hdsa.org.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

My sympathy to all of her family. I met Lari at the VA Hospital, in 1979 she was one of the ambulance drivers. I was one of the employees who sent her on those ambulance runs. A very gracious lady through and through. In her last position at the hospital we were in the same department and saw each other daily. Always a smile on her face. One memory I have is when she moved a baby calf in the back seat of her car. Vicki Forbes
