I worked with Mumford in the late 90's in the Program Certification office, Department of Family Services. I am saddened to read of his passing. He was a terrific gentlemen. Yes, I know what the N. B. stands for.

Dear Mumford family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear loved one. It seems no greater sadness is felt than when someone so dear to us is loss. May you find comfort in your memories and draw strength from a promise God has provided which gives the hope of someday being reunited with your beloved ( John 5 : 28,29 ). This promised future is one that will be filled with great joy because it will include perfect health and everlasting life on a paradise earth where " the former things have passed away " ( Rev. 21 : 4, Psalms 37 : 29 ). May you during this most difficult time find some comfort in knowing that God does care and He does hear our cries. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

I met Pol a while after each of us had been discharged from the Air Force. He, his brother Chuck, and I had been known to "hoist a few." He went on to distinguish himself in the field of Social Work. I was privileged to lecture his class on occasion when he was teaching at U.W. He went on to become an evaluator of treatment facilities for the State. His great sense of humor showed itself on one occasion where I was employed as a clinical social worker. As he was reviewing one of my case files he loudly purported to be chagrined at the very poor quality of that file. My supervisor was aghast. Only then did Pol laughingly reveal that he and I went way back as good buddies. His place in heaven is assured. We will miss him,

I am a former supervisor and neighbor of NBs. We were neighbors before being colleagues at the Department of Health (and Family) Services. As neighbors he was one of the best you could have. As I was much younger than he in the late 80's/early 90's, it was a pleasure to chat with him. I learned much from him. We became colleagues later on in the decade. I didn't even know we worked for the same department until I saw his name on my list of staff. As colleague, even though I was his supervisor, he taught me plenty about the AODA and mental health field. He was very patient. To the family, please accept my sincerest condelences for your loss. He will join many like himself, a kind patient man, observing us from heaven. Vaya con dios, NB.

"Mumford" as he was often called, was my graduate school field placement supervisor many years ago, the surveyor for a program I worked in and later, and a colleague when I came to the Department of Health Services. After he left our employment for retirement he was able to reconnect with all of our staff in a special staff meeting I had called to bring retired staff back (they were missed). It was a joy to see him again. He understood our business and also understood how to work with agencies and providers. He made a great contribution to our field. To family and special friends our survey team passes along condolences. We all have fond memories.
