Ronald "Dick" Slauson

Madison- Ronald R. (Dick) Slauson- Passed away April 9, 2016, at age 79, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born March 5, 1937, in Spring Green to Russell and Emily (Beulow) Slauson. He was united in marriage to Bernice A. Gruber on June 27, 1959, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from Spring Green High School – Class of 1954 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from June 7, 1954 – June 6, 1957 where he attained the rank of sergeant. He then worked at the U.S. Postal Service until he retired December 10, 1982. Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing, NASCAR, Chicago Cubs baseball and hockey. He also loved playing Pinochle with family. Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bernice, and sons, David (Lori), Dennis (Tracy Nelson), and Douglas (Traci Suiter) Slauson, grandsons Mark and Derek, sisters Lucille (Leonard) Boeker, Edith Odell and brother, Theodore (Janet) Slauson, and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by parents Russell and Emily Slauson, daughters Theresa and Rita Slauson, brothers Orrin, Gordon (Velma), Leon (Helen) Slauson, and sisters Isabelle (Willis) Lautzenhiser and Dorothy Blado. A funeral Service will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home on Wednesday April 13, 2016 at 11am, Visitation will be from 9am until the time of Service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakwood East Rehab who helped Ron recover in 2014 so he could enjoy the remainder of his life at home. Thank you to the EMT's and staff at Meriter Hospital who attended to Ron in his time of need.
